The
Christine Todd Whitman Excellence
in Public Service Series is a
political leadership training
program whose participants are
chosen by selective application
process. Candidates are not
selected for the Series based on
their position on any specific
issue.
The first phase of the process
involves a written application
(available below) and two
references (one a Republican
sponsor, and one a civic sponsor,
someone who has no vested
interest in a candidate's
political career). The
deadline for submission is July 15, 2008. During the second phase, finalists are notified that they must attend a personal interview of 30 minutes, typically held in Trenton in November. Successful candidates are notified around November 23.
Because the Series' programs
are held mid-week, candidates
should ensure that they will be
able to make appropriate
arrangements with their employers
and for their family
responsibilities to guarantee
attendance. The Series allows
each Scholar one excused
absence.
